Thanksgiving 2011 is on November 24, and it is a time for a special meal. For those who do not feel like cooking the meal at home, here are some San Jose restaurants that are open on Thanksgiving Day and offer special menus. Future articles will feature more restaurants.

The Fountain restaurant inside the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose offers a Thanksgiving Day dinner from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Appetizer choices include prawn and Dungeness crab cocktail, duck breast, or forest mushroom and wilted arugula “feuillette.” Next, diners can choose between butternut squash cream soup or organic autumn greens. The main course choices are turkey, roast tenderloin of beef, salmon, or Portobello mushroom ravioli. For dessert, diners can choose between hazelnut, Grand-Marnier, and chocolate cream puffs with maple ice cream or traditional pumpkin pie with brandied whipped cream and pumpkin brittle. The dinner is $55 per person. Children between 5 and 12 pay $27, and children under 5 are complimentary. For more information, check out the Fairmont holiday website. Maggiano’s in Santana Row offers a family style Thanksgiving Day Dinner. The meal starts with an assorted bruschetta plate. Next is a choice of two of the following: Maggiano’s salad, Caesar salad, chopped salad, or Italian tossed salad. The third course includes two of the following: traditional roast turkey breast, ham, or tilapia. Side choices include Tuscan creamed corn, mashed sweet potatoes, garlic mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, and focaccia sausage stuffing. Diners also get to choose two pastas. Choices include baked ziti, Rigatoni “D,” spaghetti & meatballs, four cheese ravioli, gnocchi & Italian sausage, mushroom ravioli al forno, and pasta of the day. Finally, diners get to finish their meal with two of the following: pumpkin praline cheesecake, warm apple crostada, chocolate zuccotto cake, tiramisu, or vanilla bean profiteroles. The meal is $36.95 per person, and children between the ages of 5 and 12 pay $17.95.

Left Bank in Santana Row offers a 4-course prix fixe dinner on Thanksgiving Day.  The meal starts with butternut squash soup which is followed by a salad. Entrée choices are roasted turkey, smoked honey-mustard glaze natural rack of pork, or autumn risotto. Dessert is pumpkin pie with whipped cream. The 4-course Prix Fixe meal is $41.75. All items from the Thanksgiving Day menu are also available a la carte. In addition, there will be a limited a la carte menu at the bar featuring a selection of salads, mussels, a burger, and salmon. A special kids’ menu is available for $11.95.
