For those who are planning to eat out on New Year’s Eve, it’s about time to choose a restaurant and make reservations. A previous post featured the New Year’s Eve menus of ARCADIA inside the San Jose Marriott and LB Steak in Santana Row.

Left Bank in Santana Row offers a New Year’s Eve prix fixe menu for $64.50 per person. All prix fixe menu items will also be available a la cart, and a limited regular menu will also be available. The meal starts with roasted chestnut soup with black truffles and wild mushrooms. The soup course is followed by Norwegian smoked salmon layers with tobiko caviar, cream cheese and chives and drizzled with citrus chive oil. For the main course, diners can choose between three dishes. They can either enjoy a butter poached Maine lobster tail, linguine with truffle butter, and winter root vegetables. Or they can choose pan roasted venison medallions, celery root puree, spinach, and a red currant crème sauce. Alternatively, they can enjoy center-cut veal osso bucco, potato gratin, Swiss chard, and tomato Madeira sauce. Dessert is joconde sponge cake soaked in coffee-rum, layered with coffee buttercream, chocolate ganache, and a gold leaf.

California Café located at 50 University Avenue in Los Gatos also features a special menu on New Year’s Eve. First course choices include lobster bisque, wild mushroom soup, Dungeness crab cake, kumamoto oysters, hearts of romaine Caesar salad, baby arugula & candy striped beets, and duck pate. Second course choices are peppercorn smoked prime rib, filet mignon, blackened seabass, grilled jumbo prawns, duck breast, lobster ravioli, and truffled wild mushroom risotto. Third course offerings include apple crisp, red velvet cake, butterscotch bread pudding, and turtle cheesecake. The meal costs $65 per person. Call (408) 354-8118 for more information and to make reservations.
